Deviann (2019) proved to be a complex character to work with. From quick sketches by pen and paper to enter Adobe Illustrator for outlines and color.
The lesson from Deviann is simple; some tools are excellent at vector art and keeping proportions in line. However, comic illustration is not one of Illustrator’s strongest personality traits.
Deps & Anxie (2016) marked the transition from traditional drawing to digital illustration. These whiny characters were created directly in Photoshop using a tablet. Experiencing the software together with a new technique became a formative step in developing my digital illustration practice and workflow.
